The AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards program, established in 1945, honors distinguished reporting on science by professional journalists. Thanks to a doubling of the endowment by The Kavli Foundation in 2015, it now accept entries from journalists worldwide in all categories. Nearly 40 percent of the winners in 2015 and 2016 were international entries.
The 2017 contest is now underway, and the AAAS encourage you to enter your best work for judging by your peers. The contest year is 16 July 2016 to 15 July 2017. The entry deadline is 1 August 2017. There is no entry fee. Please read the Contest Rules and Frequently Asked Questions before submitting.
The awards program encourages better public understanding of science and its impact. The media landscape may change, but the need for probing, informed science journalism remains the same. With our expanded program, we hope to foster excellence in new and diverse locales.
